Hells Angels Crowd Daly City to Honor Slain Leader

Margaret_of_Austria_mourning_1666.jpg

As many as a thousand Hells Angels could fill the Bay Area today as they pay their final respects to Mark "Papa" Guardado, their SF leader. Guardado, if you recall, was murdered on September 2 outside Dirty Thieves. (The Treat Street bar will remain closed today in honor of this and other spats of violence in the Mission.)

Police officers will be out in "full force" to maintain the scene. The a funeral is scheduled for this morning/early afternoon at Duggan's Serra Mortuary in Daly City, with the burial happening at Cypress Lawns in Colma. No word yet if there will be some sort of massive hog ride through SF later today. We can only hope.

Also, Christopher Ablett, 35, a member of the Angels' rivals, Mongols Motorcycle Club, who is accused of killing Guardado, is still at large. If you've seen him, call the police. Or, you know, run for your life.

Well there was indeed a hog ride and what a hog ride it was indeed. My attempt to cross Market Street was thwarted by a cloud of exhaust and dangerous decibels as the thousands rolled past for literally TEN minutes. Thank god they were wearing helmets. Is there some sort of revenge planned for his murder, or do we forgive and forget? Hmm?

I was doing a bit of traveling over the past few days and wondered why all the Hells Angels abandoned their hogs for Southwest Airlines.

It's like Critical Mass, but with internal combustion engines, and decibels rather than witty invective!

The flock passed by 24th and Dolores about 30 minutes ago...

Olenholm,
I am pretty sure that they are known for turning the other cheek.
