Maybe its terrorism! Or Nortenos! Where in the City is teh safe! I believe the name of those plates is "street decking". I worked with a crew for a while, and that's what they called it at that particular one, (so I don't know if it was specific to them).

Yep. I even saw it. It was a dump truck unloading a bunch of those big steel plates they use to temporarily cover up construction digging. The truck just tipped up and a bunch of the plates slid out. It was loud as hell.

possibly the construction at Golden Gate/Larkin. not too long ago they were driving pillars into the ground and it was epicly loud. i've also heard lots of metal crashing down from it.
