Anyone Else Heard That "Big Noise" at Civic Center?

"Big noise at Civic Center 50 seconds ago," we were told at 9:54 a.m. this morning. "Sounded like a building falling down for about 4 seconds." Egads, anyone else hear this? What happened?

possibly the construction at Golden Gate/Larkin. not too long ago they were driving pillars into the ground and it was epicly loud. i've also heard lots of metal crashing down from it.

That could be it. One big noise all of a sudden.

Yep. I even saw it. It was a dump truck unloading a bunch of those big steel plates they use to temporarily cover up construction digging.

The truck just tipped up and a bunch of the plates slid out. It was loud as hell.

Suppose it could be the new UC Hastings law school parking garage at GG and Larkin.

I blame the Large Hadron Collider.

Driving piles would make a repetitive banging noise, not one big loud noise.

Maybe its terrorism! Or Nortenos! Where in the City is teh safe!

I believe the name of those plates is "street decking". I worked with a crew for a while, and that's what they called it at that particular one, (so I don't know if it was specific to them).

A building fell down for about 4 seconds. No pigeons were harmed.
