Another Mission Shooting

anothershooting.png
According to a Twitter person, there was another shooting tonight in the Mission, across from Zeitgeist. Ambulances, police, etc. Le sigh. (This is not to be confused with the other shooting this weekend on Potrero Hill.)

We were just talking to someone about how they moved out of that neck of the woods this week because of all the recent gunplay. Do you still go to the Mission these days? If so, why?

Update: Victim died hours later at San Francisco General Hospital. No arrests have been made.

I drove by about 40min. ago on my way home. Looks like the shooting may have occured in the little parking lot across from the Zeitgeist.

I live in Dolores Heights and unfortunately now think twice about heading out into the Mission for dinner, etc and just walking home.

I live at 17th and Valencia and heard (what I assume) were a couple of shots about an hour after the Zeitgeist shooting. Cops quickly flooded the streets. But I haven't been able to find any information on what happened. Chalk up another one?

I lived two doors from Zeitqeist, it's always been an edgy hood but far less so since they rebuilt the projects.

There was another major police event going on just down the street around 15th/Mission around 10:30p tonight.

*Go* to the Mission? Like it's a distant destination of some far off forgotten land?

I've heard a lot of people live in that area of town, but that's probably just a rumor.

Yes, I'm in the mission nearly every day/evening.

It's time the cops got their shit together.

They need to find out WHO is doing these killings.

That would be a nice first step, don'tcha think?

We pay nearly $2,000 a month to LIVE in the mission!! (one bedroom, folks)

Why?

Living in the Mission is great.. it's by far been my fave place to live since I've lived in the city. It's not like you walk down the street and there're shootings happening everywhere. There's tons of great restaurants, it's easy to get places from there, Dolores Park is handy. Lots to love. You just gotta know the blocks to stay away from.

yeah, the mission is dicey. that's why i live in glen park, where it's sa... oh, wait a second.

i've lived here 20 yrs and have always lived in the mission save for a 2 yr exile in the TL. 6th street seems safer than 16th street now. but i love the mish.

Excellent, now all these shallow Marina people looking to lurk Quentin Tarantino can cross Zeitgeist off their barhop list and I dont have to wait in line to get in anymore and can get a drink and table easier again, like the good ol days. QT I love ya work, but your appearance there really blew it up and made it unfun.

(note: gunplay always sucks, Im just trying to see the silver lining here)

I live on 24th near Potrero aka "in the shit" and honestly if I didnt read the news Id have no idea about the violence, its "business as uge" ova 'ere...

I always considered Zeitgeist to be in SOMA, not the Mission.

You were always wrong.

Wow, I didn't think my tweet would become news! There has been increased violence and loud arguments behind the oil change business there on Valencia and Duboce in the last few weeks. This shooting, however, appeared to occur on the corner sidewalk. The victim was lying on the corner when the paramedics loaded him onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. I walked past there today and noticed the wall had a few nicks in it which might have been from stray bullets. The police were on the scene within 10 minutes of the shots being fired. I also tweeted about a loud explosion on August 18: http://twitter.com/brentzooka/statuses/890832295

bottombracket, technically Zeitgeist is in the area called Valencia Gardens.

I've always considered Zeitgeist to be at the foot of Taco Bell Heights.

i make enough runs to little star to notice what's happened to valencia gardens in the short time since it reopened.

how sad!

it's already overun by thugs and pitbulls.

single men in their 20's should not be allowed to live there,

no pets either.

sorry.
