SFist Tonight: Let's Roll Edition

911-god_bless_america.jpg

ART: Really, we can't sum up September 11 any better than SFist commenter extraordinaire fizzandpop, who today said, "On September the 10th most of the country thought that New York was full of fags, jews and spics and should just sail off into the Atlantic. By September 11th it was every hillbilly's personal tragedy." Well put, fizzandpop.

And on that note, check out "We Remember the Sun: 9/11/1973," a performance piece/exhibit by L. M. Bogad and Praba Pila about "the CIA-assisted military overthrow and killing of Chile’s democratically elected president, Salvador Allende," which lead to General Augusto Pinochet's violent, blood-soaked dictatorship.

(If you must get your 9/11 teardrops on today, here are some photos from the AT&T Park tribute thingy.)

7 p.m. // San Francisco Art Institute (800 Chestnut) // free

FILM: Oh, and there's some sort of 9/11 Truth Film Festival going on tonight as well. Wheels within wheels, people. Wheels within wheels. (Free popcorn!)

now - 11 p.m. // Grand Lake Theater (3200 Grand, Oakland) // $10 donation

CLUB: Most responsible for the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, according to Jerry Falwell, are the gays. Naturally. So come celebrate the queer community's brand of terrorism as DJ Bus Station John spins late 70s/ early 80s gay bar & bathhouse hi-NRG, Eurodisco, NYC no-wave, and disco rarities in the TL at Tubesteak Connection, ground zero for perverse tunes and dirty dance floor action.

9 p.m. // Aunt Charlie's Lounge (133 Turk) // $3

Fox News was "helping" by rerunning all million hours of their coverage from Sep 11th. Remember folks, it up to you to keep the hysteria alive until it's "Mission Accomplished"!

Monistat's having a party tonight and I think we're playing pin the plane on the towers.

We joke to cope, people.

where? this sounds like something readers need to know about. you know, to cope.

She's having it at Vertigo. Anna Conda may or may not do a number. There was talk of a best bloody airline costume award as well, but I doubt that will happen. Whatever, it's free and gets me the fuck away from my exboyfriend for an evening.
