(For a live copper at the scene, go here.) According to the Gate, at 2 p.m. a "single-engine plane crashed into water off the Bay Bridge" 500 or so yards from the Emeryville shoreline.

Thanks for posting this. I was out at Baker Beach about the time of this crash, wondering why an Air Force rescue helicopter was flying around.
Oops, sorry about that. I thought I was in Hayward.
