No, the cool kids drink Tecate out of cans, and have for a couple years. It's decent beer, cheap, and refreshingly free of the h*pster stigma which now clings ineluctably to PBR.

Henry Weinhard's would be a good option, wsanders. Or Corona in cans.

excellent point, wsanders. prior to the red hook revolution, we seattlites drank oceans of the vitamin R (rainier) unless we could afford the good stuff, henrys.

When the Rickshaw Stop first opened a few years back, it sold Icehouse in a can for $1. I'm not sure how long that lasted (not long enough).

If you are going to promote low-brow hipster (ha!) nostalgia beer, why not have something local? Austin has Shiner Bock, which my grandpappy considered cheap low class stuff, and when we went to Nuevo Laredo and Matamoros back in the day we never paid more than 25c for a Corona. And there was Pearl and Lone Star, all brewed in San Antonio.

Doesn't SF have its own indigenous cheap brew? Even something from the Central Valley, or Asia, would be more indigenous than midwest brands. Maybe Olympia comes closest.

Hey Schaefer was the official beer of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park in the 1970s. The gingle was, "Schaefer is, the one beer to have, when you're having more than one!". And man after a long hot humid summer day at Fenway man did the place smell like warm rotting piss.

I've been waiting for Schaefer to make a comeback as an ironic beer choice. Best ad campaign ever - "Schaefer, when you're having more than one."

Minnesota import...well, maybe today...

Back when this town had a strong Bottlers' Union, I used to work at Hamm's (also Lucky Lager). Great job, beer on tap in the break room, quarts to take home...
