Santa Cruz Cyclist Stabs Motorist

Authorities are looking for, oh dear, "a bicyclist in Santa Cruz who fled after allegedly stabbing a motorist during a confrontation." It seems there was some sort of heated driver-to-cyclist confrontation today, which culminated with the guy on the bike kicking the guy's car door, hitting the driver in the face with a broom handle, and then finishing the job by stabbing the motorist. The victim, we're told, is in good condition at Stanford Medical Center. So...there you have it. (KGO)

I find that stabbing implements tend to snag on my lycra. That's why I usually cycle unarmed.

Well....let the bitterness and recriminations begin!

or better yet, a drinking game. come on sfist folk, let's come up with some rules of the road rage drinking game.

Seriously, I hope the driver is ok and is not gonna die. People, you don't need to stab and kill to make your point. I thought all those hippies in Santa Cruz riding their bikes were so stoned they didn't do shit like this.

The bicyclist then rode off on his black bike.

Hard-hitting journalism from the KGO news team. Mark my words: Rob Anderson is going to have a field day with this one.

...broom handle?

Fuckin' hippies.

who rides w/ a knife AND a broom handle?

take away the bike/car and the trauma caused by Critical mass, and this just yet another assault, definitely not the only one that occurred in SC.

Seeking witch riding bike after defective flying broom fails.

Back in the late l980's some thugs in a car tried to rob a cyclist at 2am on Broadway and Polk st.

Cyclist shot them, they got back in their car, drive half a block and died.

Cyclist ran off and someone in a pickup truck stole his bike. Never found the cyclist who the police, "just wanted to question...."

I know this is mentally filed under "driver-to-cyclist confrontation."

But I can't help but think of the generally loony nature of your average Santa Cruz resident.

Yes, I know. Pot: kettle = black. But still.

santa cruz is glorious. and totally insane.

how about a fun compromise:

deliciously insane

Greggers, I'm guessing there's no link/digitization of that story? Pretty wild.

Are you allowed to say "black bike" in a new article? I thought if the bike was black, you just have to leave the bike color out of the story.

gangs.

I've never owned a car and have been riding downtown SF since the age of six. Applause to the guy who stabbed the driver. Can't tell you how many times drivers have flamed through red lights just barely missing me and waving me off like its a normal part of driving. Or the idiot who flies up to the stoplight looking left holding the flip-phone and whining into it without looking to his right as I come riding by. He punches it, of course!

All I can say is I'm not so sure I would have used a knife but a good whoopin' with a broom handle seems appropriate! :-)

Ban cars from The City today! Leave 'em in Oakland!

and all of you car haters/bike riders certainly wouldn't want me around you. sheesh, i helped a poor kid who tried to pass on the right who got hit by a car turning right (he was speeding down a hill and came up on her as she was slowing and turning) and then taken away in the ambulance. took his bike in my car, gave him my name and number, and delivered his bike. i know, all of us drivers deserve to die. well, this kid didn't deserve to die for his stupidness when he violated the vehicle code. believe me, as i helped this young man in his hour of need, i thought about all of you a-hole bike riders that break the laws and then cry like little girs. grow up.
