Nancy Pelosi Dead Wrong on Abortion, says SF Archbishop
Sorcerer Archbishop George Niederauer is hopping mad at Nancy Pelosi. Why? Because of what she said about the church's teaching on abortion. It seems on NBC's Meet the Press last week, the congresswoman from Baghdad by the Bay, while defending her stance on abortion, claimed that "church leaders throughout history haven't been able to define when life begins." Not so, says Archbishop Niederauer. The Catholic church has considered abortion evil ever since religion was concocted in the creative minds of ancient ad execs, he declares. The SF Archbishop goes on to say that he wants to have a "private talk" with Pelosi. Gulp. (CBS 5)

Of course the churches want more babies. More babies = more revenues for the churches (businesses?), more revenues helps buy more political power, more political power = John McCain/Sarah Palin and other Republicans ready to gut the Constitution and take away our individual freedoms FROM religion. Why are fighting anti-freedom folks in Iraq when we have a shitload of 'em in the barn already?
Don't forget, the Catholics and Mormons are spending millions on changing California's Constitution via Proposition 8 - they'd like nothing more than to take away our individual freedoms to get equal treatment from our state government regardless of the gender of the adult we are committed to. Catholic Church PR says: "Gee, don't hate us because we're injecting millions of dollars into taking away your rights to live a happy, free life. We know we should probably keep our nose out of trying to change the California Constitution and spend our millions of dollars on more noble activities, like helping to feed and house people down on their luck. We'd rather shove our religious beliefs down your throat ... and its worth the millions of dollars to us to take away your freedoms to do so."

Maybe things have changed; I last made my Easter duty twenty years ago. But when I was a Catholic, I understood all Catholics are held within the mystical body of the church. Men are called to the priesthood in order to ensure the work of this body is done in accordance with the teachings of Christ and the Fathers of the church. Their job is to keep the "creeps" out. How can you defend the men who failed to do their job?
Individual Catholics can do great work as Catholics, but the Church administration is remote, cold, and disconnected. That these men are using the wealth of the Church to abuse civil law in order to impose Catholic law on everybody in this country, one state at a time, Catholic and non-, is not only a sin (pride!), but ought to be a crime.
And that's all I have to say about that.
Sorry you feel remote, cold and disconnected from the Catholic Church. Even in the Police Dept. there are some sick people who do bad things,ie,(Bobby Cutts) but the Police Dept. is still something we all need, just as we need the Church. It's the people that need to bond together to correct the problems. Most of the Priests I knew were Gay
and that is supposedly against the Catholic Religion, but not the Church's fault if the information is not divulged. Even the President of The United States is a big mess, with new Leadership the Church can be brought back to your expectations also.
