Fairfield Councilman Matt Garcia Dies From Gunshot Wound?

matt%20garcia.jpg

22-year-old Matt Garcia, one of the youngest elected officials in the state, succumbed to injuries after taking a "single bullet to the back of the head" on Monday night in front of a pal's house. He was allowed to die "naturally" at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek this afternoon, being taken off of life support at his family's request.

Garcia, who was born and raised in Farfield, wanted to be mayor the his hometown ever since he was in the sixth grade. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The reason for his murder (i.e., whether or not Garcia was the intended target) is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Update: KRON 4 reports that Garcia is still on life support. But he's brain dead. So...yeah.

Sad.

That is so very sad. I remember seeing him riding in one of the recent parades and thought to myself how impressive it is to be such a young political person in his community. My thoughts are with his family and those who knew him.

Way too much gun violence in the Bay Area. What going on?

that sucks.

An incalculable loss. "No arrests have been made," seems to be a permanent tag line in the Bay Area.

I believe every school should have an anger management class.
Guns are the new way to deal when feeling slighted or having a bad day. It is an outrage that these punks are even able to get their hands on a gun, let alone be on the streets.
You are our hero Matty boy. God bless you.

Let me guess, the suspects are black. They are users or sellers of drugs. Why can't we look closer at the root of these senseless crimes? It is because we have not gotten tougher on locking up all blacks. Poverty breeds crime. Since blacks are lazy and stupid they do not work. Therefore they are poor, committing crime on a greater scale than their superior neighbors, Asians and Europeans. Let us more civilized and proper humans work to lock up the animals. They have no soul anyway.

Your hate only breeds further hate. Reap what you sow and don't ask any questions why, DBCooper29.
