OBAMA: Wonks, wannabe wonks, and people who overestimate their importance circle jerk to the sights and sounds of the future Prez accepting his nomination tonight. Join them, won't you? Here's where you can find them:

- 5:30 p.m.: The California Democratic Party's SF Acceptance Speech Party, Hyatt Regency (5 Embarcadero Center, Grand Ballroom)

- 5 p.m.: "I Accept" Obama Nomination Speech Watching, Roe Restaurant (651 Howard Street)

- 5:30 p.m.: MoveOn.org's "Yes We Can!" Party, Fina Estampa Peruvian Restaurant (1100 Van Ness Avenue)

FILM: Due to this hellish lovely weather we're having, we must recommend you check out the end-of-summer Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema 2008, which starts tonight and ends on Sunday, taking place at various locales in the Bernal Heights area. Local filmmakers' works will be presented in comfy, naturally air conditioned venues. Oh, and free appetizers will be waiting for you outside on the patio. Score! (Tonight's screenings can be found here.)

8 p.m. // El Rio (3158 Mission) // free

MUSIC: X.LR8R Magazine presents local bands Why?, Tussle, Lets, and DJs Jel & Odd Nosdam. Rock on, locals. Rock. On.

9 p.m. // Great American Music Hall (859 O'Farrell) // $15
