Interview: M. Ward

Ok... a very brief interview. Given what a mess Golden Gate Park is (and just gonna get better as the weekend begins), we feel luck we were able to get out with a few gems from M. Ward. Ward is taking a break from his current project, She and Him, to go back to his roots. Catch his set at the Outside Lands Festival on Saturday-- it should be very, very good.

read the post, heard a couple of their tunes, instant fan.

beg him to play an M Ward show at GAMH soon! There isnt enough "him" in She and Him.

M Ward, not exactly Bruce Dickinson, are you?

This is painful to say because right now M. Ward is my most favorite band. However, I thought his performance at OL stunk! He played the "Post War" like it was a CD. He played each song in order of the CD. How is that fun for the audience? Plus he didn't play anything from his previous album other than . I get it when artists want to play a lot from their newest release hoping to generate sales of their cd, but "post war" is two years old. Get over it. Play some of the stuff from your previous album. On top of all that, this band sucked. They were off on timing and general musicianship.

Overall a very disappointing performance. I expected better. Maybe that happens with hero worship.
