Restaurant Thieves Strike Again

Two armed men struck yet another East Bay restaurant, this time in the posh Rockridge district. At least two thieves robbed a Pasta Pomodoro (someone save the butternut squash ravioli!) at 5500 College Avenue a little before 11 p.m. last night. The hooded men got away with cash, but no one was injured. If you recall, Oakland has seen a rash of restaurant robberies over the last month. Where will they strike next? (SFGate)

I don't understand how these Guardian Angels are supposed to miraculously solve Oakland's crime problem? As I understand it, it's basically just like having an extra 12 people on the ground, but from pictures it looks like they just pace around in front of a restaurant that's already been robbed. In case the thieves come back or something? I don't get it.

They help Dellums pretend he's doing something.

SF they kill you, Oakland they rob you.

How long until the robbers start posting reviews on Yelp? "Easy entry, no cameras, and they started opening the till as soon as they saw us come in. Prompt service, though we didn't eat anything. No tables between register aWould rob again!"

Coming soon to Oakland menus, "5% law enforcement surcharge."

One important detail: Pasta Pomodoro has changed its name to just "Pomodoro" because they serve more than pasta. They obviously serve adrenaline rushes in addition to fettuccine.

cedichou: I think you're overstating things. While that may be a detail, I'd hardly say it's important.

Should be "a little before 11 a.m...."

These hooded lazy creeps without jobs are walking time bombs about to be captured.
Hope it's worth the thrill for them, because they will be caught and spend their lives in a cold cell and money won't matter anymore.
Maybe restaurants should take credit cards only and no one should come in with any cash or jewelry... only credit, Every restaurant owner should have a tazer gun or mace.
SAD SAD SAD dining out has come to this!
