"Unless you want to experience the pandemonium of a devastating terrorist attack, you might want to steer clear of downtown San Francisco on Aug. 16," writes the Examiner. And where will we be tomorrow? That's right, in downtown San Francisco. Two simulated nuclear attacks will go down, so to speak, within a three-hour period: the first around 10 a.m. at 555 California, the "second some time later" at 1 Post.
"To amplify the illusion of a weekday attack," over 100 students have volunteers to play victims. But we expect each and everyone of you to show up between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to get in on the fun. Be sure to dress apocalyptically.
The simulated attack will also result in the following street closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
- Montgomery Street between Sacramento and Market streets
- Pine Street between Battery and Kearny streets
- Post Street between Kearny and Montgomery streets
- Leidesdorff Street between Pine and California streets
- Intersections: Sansome, Leidesdorff and Montgomery at Pine; Post, Bush and Sutter at Montgomery
Most of all, don't forget to have fun. See you downtown.

Horray! Now I can try out my Halloween zombie costume.
yay for NERT!
But on a Saturday? They should do the drill during a critical mass evening. Now *that* would be an effective drill for chaos management.
This sounds to me like it needs a Zombie flash mob.
Funny you should mention that.

Loooooove the graphic on this. :)
hope it's going to be at the same time as zombie mob!! too fun
Damn it, the zombies are at 2pm... I suppose that makes sense since the nuclear attack wouldn't immediately cause zombies. Radioactivity isn't instant.
They don't need to simulate a disaster to train people - they can just have people commute on MUNI and manage that disaster for a day for yuks.
i'm in kentucky and am going to miss it. am bummed :(
can somebody please take lots of photos and video and tell me all about it?

Says Boing Boing: "...After all, what would you rather have propel you around town while turning to ash: a Segway or a crab-crawling, disemboweled zombie robot?"
