I like sfist.com but I get very tired of the cynicism and simple meanness that meant to pass for humor and trenchant commentary. It's really easy to be bitchy. Schoolkids are capable of it at quite an early age.
It's perfectly acceptable to point out that public officials often goof off or blow off the public commentary period. Cynics respond with "What else is new?" but the fact is that it's another chisel at the edifice of democracy and if you don't take it seriously, you're part of the problem. The public comment period should be listened to by our representatives and the length of each person's comments shouldn't be arbitrarily snipped. Yet this stuff happens all the time. I've witnessed it at Berkeley City Council meetings and at the MTC meetings about planning the rebuilding of the Bay Bridge.
You should be happy that a teen cares enough and is civic-minded enough to wait and wade through the process hurdles in order to speak her mind at a City Council meeting. Instead you make fun of her. This country needs MORE civic involvement by average citizens, not less.

Give me a break. She was on the verge of a breakdown from the minute she opened her mouth. She was upset about the animals and clearly nervous. For anyone to blame this on Daly (and I'm not a huge fan of his) is just ridiculous.
