You know how in those cop shows, they always talk about how someone's (usually a dangerous criminal) "back out on the street on a technicality"? It sounds like that's basically what happened with not so dangerous Robert Burck, aka, "The Naked Cowboy."
As you know, Burck was arrested in Union Square last Friday for doing his usual naked cowboy crap, either not knowing or not caring that you need a permit to perform in the area. (So, those gold and silver guys get permits? Mind: boggling.)
Now the Examiner is reporting that the Naked Cowboy shrugged off his shackles and returned to NY last night, after it was discovered that his arresting officer "wrote the wrong code on the ticket and the citation was invalidated." We can only hope any arrests resulting from performances of our similarly unpermitted street act, "The Naked Muni Driver" ends in similar SFPD ineptitude.
Gothamist, back to you!

".. like a Fine Stoned Cow-boy .."
Ahhh... a technicality.
Anyway, what why the hell is performing without a permit an offense that can get you arrested? Damn, give the frickin' citation and let the guy go.
@Generic, hahahahahahaha.
"So, those gold and silver guys get permits? Mind: boggling" You know what was mind boggling? Seeing the silver guy drive around in a BMW looking for parking in the Pier 39 area. He matched his car.
Seems like I just read recently about the permitting process. People were fighting over the optimal places on Pier 39 to perform their..."acts," and permitting was going to be instituted to cut down on the squabbles.
@jportillo
What's more boggling: the car of the fact that he thought he could find parking there?
Good point it was probably trying to find parking at lunch time.
I'd like to see him and our very own "pimp suit guy who knows 2 or 3 lines to 4 different songs" in a cage match. I be the Naked Cowboy would get his ass rolled back to Times Square right quick.
