Tech Problems Persist at City Hall Post-Passwordgate

Despite the God-like powers of Mayor Gavin Newsom's bedroom eyes, large hands, and gravelly voice that managed to woo Terry Childs to handover the passwords to City Hall's system, administrators are still having trouble accessing some parts of the network, or so says Network World. Admins, it seems, are "still locked out of the city's VoIP system and LANs within the Sheriff's Department and the Recreation & Park Department." Zoinks.
Also, Terry Childs, who held the city's networks hostage, is allegedly a wee bit bonkers. In addition to spending time in juvie for aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary charges, NW reports that a "court also ordered Childs to stay away from several of his former co-workers, including Jeana Pieralde, [a] DTIS director of security who was allegedly so afraid of Childs that she locked herself in a room in [a] data center." Oh my.

And for something that's not a blatant hit piece, look here:

nice pic, what is that from, 1985?
that is the sturdy and reliable Tandy 1000!
Zippy Monster, I agree w/ you that the post above was long on non sequitors and ad hominem attacks on the guy, but all of this could have been handled if he knew how to get along w/ people.
The post you linked to kept saying that IT people treat a network like it's their baby. But it's not. And when the people who pay you want something, you give it to them. You can advise them that they're fucking up, but you don't pull a stunt like he did.
Because then who's the baby?
It's like a perfect dork storm. People behave like this because they are alowed to. In a public org like the City, there must be layer upon layer of unaccountability, incompitence, and entitlement. Add to that the borderline psychotic behavior that most sysadmins exhibit and you have shit like this occuring. Going from the private to the public sector is like stepping into the monkey house.
Still, the dude's a prick and his managers are clowns. That would never happen at my business. Wait..am I still online? Did Safari just quit on me again?
1,100 modems that the city didn't know about?

this story is getting curiouser and curiouser by the minute
That's what you get for not making the password your favorite pet's name.
