Hugo Boss didn't design the SS uniform, but his manufacturing firm made some of the early ones. 'Volkswagen' is a post-war name VW came up with for the international sales market, The original Nazi-era name for the beetle was KdF-Wagen, 'Strength Through Joy car'. Just sayin'

And in another free chapter from my book on motoring for logic-defyers, if this happens to you, don't worry about the tickets or tow. You should always report the car stolen, even if it's exactly where you left it. That way your insurance will cover the costs.

I prefer Hitler Car because I once heard it shouted with all sincerity by a drunky in Bend, OR. But Mercedes does deserve the nazi-based derision due to the fact that the SS brass used to waft around the Fatherland in those big Mercedes roadsters and staff cars. Plus the Hasidic Jews won't touch them, so it must be true.

i have always found nazi art/propaganda to be aesthetically impeccable, if morally heinous. so the hugo boss factoid does not surprise, not one whit. the best suit i ever laid eyes on was of hugo boss design. insanely expensive & worth every cent. the kind of suit that makes a corpse in a casket look good.

Brock, If you're going to be tastelessly witty at least have the half-wits to choose the right car. Mercedes-Benz maybe German, but it's the hippie the Volkswagen Beetle that should be your target. Volkswagen Beetle was based on a design by Ferdinand Porsche who worked with Hitler to create the "People's Car" (Hence the socialist name "Volkswagen": Folks-Wagon). The car in the photo is a Mercedes Benz and Brock is making the oh-so hilarious and timely observation that since MBs are German cars they must be somehow associated with the Nazi party which, thanks to the sacrifice of millions of Americans, Brits, Canadians, Russians, Poles and countless others, was defeated over 60 years ago. Good one Brock! Way to keep the humor fresh! So are we to assume that the only manufacturers were complicit in genocide? Or does that extend to the owners as well? What about Chrystler employees? I used to own a Dodge, does that make me a Nazi as well?
