As long as no 'citizens' get hurt, then this will be a success. But I doubt people will stay away from the Castro... Why don't they get real. If they allowed neighborhoods to host parties in the same areas where people congregate on the weekends, it might could just work. The marina could have a party The castro could have one Dolores Park could have one and maybe the big softball field in potrero could host one. or we could just have chaos again.

This will be as awesome as the Huey Lewis New Years Eve at Embarcadero ever was. I'm guessing the closest this will come to the embargoed Castro Halloween is that the Tommy Castro Band will inevitably headline the side stage, as is their also-ran wont.

They tried this back in 1996, holding a big party in the Civic Center. It totally sucked. Everyone went to the Castro anyway.

It's unfortunate that the event has to be moved to another location...but what's the deal with the "paid event"? It almost sounds like the event was cancelled and move just so the City could raise revenue.
