I got this note in my car as well and though it was perfect timing as I was planning on donating. The guy gave me this scpiel that he wanted to pick up a car for his son so he can get a job delivering pizzas. When I asked why the phone number was a Salvation Army number, he dodged it quickly saying it was his father's number and didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it. He wanted to see the car the same day so I set up an appointment. Not feeling 100% sure about this type of transaction, I called around trying to get info and dialed the transitional housing house that this was supposed to be originating from to see if they knew anything about this. The operator kept transferring me back over to a general operator, effectively evading any of my questions before I could tell her anything. After this runaround, I felt like something fishy was going on, cancelled my "appt" and proceeded to donate my car rather than have someone stiff me on the title transfer. I can't quite understand the racket though.

A few weeks ago, someone put business cards with "I want to buy your car" hand-printed on them and a phone number under the windshield wiper of every car on my street. What's he going to do with all those cars? Urban mysteries.

Someone put the same exact sign on my car about 8 months ago...wierd.
