SFist Tonight

FASHION (SORT OF): Oh, wow. This should be rich. The lovely ladies of Femina Potens are hosting Queer Philosophy Salon: Beauty vs. Style. Tonight's discussion of hemlines, pleats, and what is defined as attractive is a "philosopher moderated, Socratic-styled" Q&A focusing on questions of "truth, goodness, and beauty." Bring your own ideas of beauty to discuss. (We're not sure what that means; assume, for the sake of argument, you should bring the latest copy of W)

8 p.m. // Femina Potens (2199 Market) // $10-$25 sliding scale

MUSIC: Marabelle Phoenix and Prairiedog are playing for all you hipsters out there. Read about more these sound artists here.

9:30 p.m. // Hemlock Tavern (1131 Polk) // $5

FILM: Yowsa, yowsa, yowsa! The late Sydney Pollack's They Shoot Horses, Don't They (1969) -- wherein "the lives of a disparate group of contestants intertwine in an inhumanely grueling dance marathon" during the Depression Era -- screens tonight.

7 p.m. // Castro Theatre (Castro & Market) // $10.50
