Things got a wee bit heated at last night's Presidio Trust Public Board of Directors Meeting. The hot topic about was that art museum thingy we most likely never plan on visiting, but sure sounds swell nevertheless. Anyway, according to Jim Herd, who snapped the above shot, Newsom addressed the crowd, and then he was loudly booed when he finished. Tough crowd, tough crowd. (Read more about it here.)

well, the hysterical part is that Presido is run by the Feds and then can do whatever they want, public opinion be damned. From SocketSite.com
So the whole meeting was an exercise in SF political PR since the public comments basically mean nil.
agreed.
The NIMBYs think that they are outside of the process, but that's not the way it is, really. They will end up being players in a good-cop bad cop, reverse mau mau - assuming they don't end up killing the proposal through a lawsuit or some other means.
Last night's meeting moves the ball along. Enjoy that huge parking lot while you can, it's not long for this world.
I just don't understand why the wealthy insist on building their museums in areas that have inadequate public transportation? Is it just a big f**k you to the peons? Why, why wouldn't you put your giant ego house somewhere easily accessible by everyone?
Currently there is no reason to have much public transit to the Main post of the Presidio. As all that is there are bunch of offices, the employees of which get to ride the PresidiGo Express (Which open to the public between around 10:30 to 3:30). In the future, when this beautiful area of San Francisco has more of a reason for people who can't take the PresidiGo to be there, either the City will launch a MUNI line (increase the 82x service), or the Presidio will launch a PresidiGo that the general public can use. But saying they shouldn't actually plan to make the Presidio a place for people to want to go because there is no bus line, is pretty short sighted to say the least. Fuck it, lets just keep it a parking lot.
