Maria Taylor's Equipment Stolen

maria.jpg

Maria Taylor -- singer-songwriter from Alabama who stopped in SF recently to play a gig -- had her stuff stolen this past Wednesday. Her touring van, naively parked over at Mission and Eighth Sts., was broken into and the contents inside swiped. While Taylor's bass has been recovered at a nearby pawn shop, here's what's still missing:

  • Left-handed RED Gretsch Tennessee Rose Guitar
  • Left-handed Martin Acoustic Guitar
  • Left-handed WHITE American Fender Precision bass (w/ green pick guard)
  • Right-handed PURPLE Fender Jazz Bass guitar
  • Right-handed 1976 BLACK Les Paul Deluxe
  • Right-handed Alvarez acoustic guitar (Hand painted white w/ black swirls. Guitar strap is nailed on)
  • Boss Tuner Pedal
  • Boss distortion Pedal

And would you look at how woeful and wan she's become without her flute, or her triangle, or... whatever she plays. She's a shadow of a human being, folks. Anyway, we've conveniently been given no contact info as to what you should send your tips as to the whereabouts of her equipment. But we'll post it as soon as we get an email address. In the meantime, send us your hot tips here.

Update: You can send tips about Taylor's stolen equipment to info[at]saddle-creek[dot]com. Presumably, her stuff can probably be found at pawn shops in the mid-Market and Mission Street areas.

I miss rita. She knew the difference between a snark and just being a jerk.

this is the contact info > info@saddle-creek.com

her band management..their the ones that sent me the updated photos of the other still missing equipment

I really hope she finds that stuff because that's a lot of money...

And it totally sucks.

Doesn't one usually need to show valid ID in order to be able to pawn stuff in the city?

Sucks, for sure.

But...

I gotta say it...

"Naively" doesn't START to cover it!!

No musician with any clue about anything leaves gear unattended in a van parked on a public street?! That's some sweet gear too, and that's one super sketchy part of town-- something doesn't add up: they were smart enough to get a tour van from Alabama to Mission and 8th, but stupid enough to leave their van there?!

Does not compute...

The charming post left on craigslist about this. Apparently we, the Bay Area, are crap. Sucks they lost the gear, but seriously, nice attitude.

My favorite part, the 'vatos' who are to blame for stealing the gear.

i agree with salsa, perhaps they got sidetracked after parking.

my friend's band was touring and played in the mission last month. after the show we spent over an hour unloading their gear at 3 o'clock in the morning... and then loading it back up 5 hours later. you can't take any chances...

I feel bad for her, but you just can't leave musical gear unattended at all, ever, and ESPECIALLY not at 8th & Mission. I don't care if you're from Alabama or the Bronx, there are enough indicators at that corner to let you know "Hey, maybe not the best place to leave thousands of dollars of gear unattended."

FAIL

There are 'vatos' at 8th and Mission? Really?

In other news Maria's turnip truck was unscathed.
