@largo01 -- ask my mom and you will get 100 uses for that substance. My first introduction to alcohol was probably at 4 or 5 when she added a tablespoon of it into my night-time tea to help with coughing and make me sleepy. Surprisingly enough, that early experience kept me off booze for a looooong time as I remembered how nasty that stuff was :-) I have changed since.

I grew up in Soviet Russia and my mom would subject me to vodka baths when I was running a fever (we didn't have fancy medications and rubbing me with vodka-soaked cloth did the trick.) Alcohol baths are a staple in some cultures and telling them not to do it is like telling Gus Portakalos that Windex is not a cure for every disease.

I prefer my children bathed in BBQ sauce, they marinate better that way and helps me to stay cool, calm and collected...bathing kids in alcohol, pft!

I think if the author substituted word "in" with the word "with", then it would make a lot more sense. An alcohol bath is what you call it when you take rubbing alcohol and apply it to your skin with a cloth or a big piece of cotton or whatever. It's like a sponge bath, but it uses ssweet sweet alcohol instead of water.
