Supreme Master Ching Hai Spotted

go8f8479-copy.jpg

SF Citizen's Jim Herd caught the latest (and arguably the greatest) shot of Supreme Master Ching Hai cruising down Market Street on the side of a Honda. (A Honda? That saddens us.)

Who is Supreme Master Ching Hai, you ask? Well, for starters, she's nuts. And she's the cult leader of Supreme Master Television. And she knows how to rock the blond hair as hard as the brunet. And she's a staunch vegan. And she also raised a good chunk of change for Bill Clinton back in the day. And, it seems, she's going global. Egads, keep the Flavor Aid locked up!

Anyway, read more about our favorite gal here. And submit!

holy shit, HQL. nice find!

also, you know too much!

All I know are her followers at the "Alice and Friends" restaurant were good cooks. I was even willing to put up with the television sets playing her sermons while you ate.

phenomenal food, joel. agreed. mmmm.

I bet if Etta James had a restaurant, it would be s-u-b-l-i-m-e!

Is it me or does she look like a (skinnier) Asian Roseanne Barr?

Some of her followers have a restaurant in downtown Oakland called Good Earth, which has really tasty vegan gumbo.

I had a coworker who followed her...seemed like a benevolent cult (well, aside from the "send me your money and be enlightened" part of it).

The best place to get fill of Supreme Master TV is the Golden Era restaurant on Ofarrell street. Make sure you try the vegan fish. Trully Dericous, and they have Supreme Master TV on all the time.

I've never seen such a fat vegan. WTF is she eating?!

Golden Era and Golden Lotus. Same menu.

no 40 language translation of the menu like the tv shows.

There are original oil paintings on the walls of both places done by HER.

Mmmmm, Golden Era and Golden Lotus. Yes, she my be a nutty cult leader, but her restaurants are 5 star in my book. I ate at one of her buffets in Seoul also. Fanstastic vegan Barbecue. And I've neer felt like anyone was pushing an ideology in her places either, just food.

Now the nut cases at Ananda-Fuara. That's a cult to be scared of. Why are all vegi-vegan places owned by cults anyway?

this car is always parked on 7th just north of Folsom. for reals. i see it every day on my way to or from work.

is this the group that owns the restaurants that dont' have prices, you pay only what you "want" to pay? or is that ANOTHER vegan restaurant with oddness I heard about?

*Doing my best Gerri Blank impersonation, singing*

I'm gonna sit at the welcome table...sing about it! I'm gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days; Hallelujah! I'm gonna sit at the welcome table, gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days.

For South Bayers looking to sample from the bountiful plate of Supreme Master Ching Hai, there is Vegetarian House on E. Santa Clara Street:

Personally I love all that gluten-ous stuff, though I prefer it billed as itself, instead of ersatz beef/chicken/pork.

I saw this ad printed as a billboard in the international terminal at SFO on my way to a Virgin American flight. Don't miss the live flash TV feed: Wacked Supreme Master Flash TV Feed

wow, so many languages,

GORT, baranga.

Klatu barata nectu.
