We put this in DATB, but it merits its own post because: Oh my, God!!!! Convicted killer/open source computer programmer Hans Reiser led police to the whereabouts of his wife Nina's remains. Her body, it seems, was located somewhere "near Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland hills ... buried next to a deer trail, reports the Gate. Her body was found at around 4 p.m. today. If you recall, Reiser maintained his innocence over the six-month-long murder trail, which ended earlier this year. Read more about today's discovery here.

What a poor excuse for a human being. I am glad to see that the jury got this one right.
F-ck you, Hans, for killing your wife, committing perjury, wasting the taxpayers' money with your antics, and leaving your children with a legacy of grief, loneliness, and shame.
I hope you live a long, unpleasant life as a guest of the state to reflect on your misdeeds.
Gee mpantone, why not wish the children a future that includes progeny-free suicide so they don't further any guilt that you find abhorrent. I mean, as long as you're taking it personally you might as well go all the way. It's almost like he killed YOUR wife! Then again, maybe Nina was really a wife to all of us, in a way. The pretty and white ones usually are.
You're right; thanks for the addendum. You're the best!
He open-sourced her body.
Holy shit, in exchange for a lighter sentence? I can't believe the authorities agreed. I mean holy crap, they already knew he killed her. Was having her decomposed body really that important??
Lest you think I'm cruel, if this was my mother, I'd say let the body stay unfound and give this guy the max.
interesting, but what does this have to do with San Francisco?
if i wanted to know about stuff that happened in the east bay, i would move there.
come on SFIST, weren't there any ironic water pistol shootouts yesterday to report on?
Bluecanary, supposedly he went down from 25-life to 15-life.
Both options include "life". I have to think that's what he's getting. It's what he deserves.
I still wouldn't have given in to this prick. Because that means after 15 years, her family has to start showing up for parole hearings to reiterate, over and over, why this bastard should stay behind bars. The original sentence would have saved them 10 years of trouble.
Besides, to be perfectly callous, if I was the wife, I'd have preferred to be left where I was, buried in the bushes, than to be dug up and force my family to spend what, $20K on a funeral for me? I'm cheap that way.
