At least they're not track bikes.

Dee dee dee!

At least I'm not staring at the nasty blue carpeting.

What's the deal Brock? Did you murder all the other editors? SFist is 100% Brock Nation (R)(TM) these days.

That would be fine, except all of Brock's posts suck. So, it might be OK to have the other contributors back. Maybe.

i didn't mean to force you out of your navel, jwb. you may return.

SFist sucked before Brock.

(Sorry, Jackson.)

... about as infuriating as when single passengers on foot sprawl across all the seats with room for bikes. Or when they glare at you for standing too close with a bike.

It'd be nice if riders, walkers and people with gigantic heaps of luggage could work out an accord and stick to it.

"Or when they glare at you for standing too close with a bike."

absolutely. this isn't an us vs. them fight; it's a matter of consideration. agreed.

blocking the door? wrong place for your bike.

In defense of the bike, I'm betting that the doors open on the opposite side in this case.

At least if it were a track bike, since the train still has brakes, it could stop.

I like my Sfist all Brock and all Bart, all the time. Best SFIST blogger EVAR.

fools!

the biggest tragedy in this photo is that red plastic bag on the right!! its probably full of bottled water and cigs purchased at Walgreens.

What is most interesting is the beleaguered look on the BART riders behind the bike. I guess the smell of urine can be off-putting.

Anyone else hate the new bart cars? Good for the new floor that is teflon to puke, but did we have to get rid of the 4 facing seats?

I'll echo Leanne and abstain from inducting any fury. Unless the bike was blocking the doors the side on which the doors would open, and/or the owner didn't move the bike out of the way in anticipation of the doors opening, there's no reason to get all hot and bothered.

There's long stretches during which "blocking" the door frees up space for everyone and is irrelevant to in/egress until the door-opening side switches. Which could be a while.

BART should just do what trains in Germany do. They have a special car attached at the end of each train which has flip down passenger seating on the sides of the car and plenty of room for people with bikes to basically cram into.

Also, why doesn't BART install overhead storage for peoples' shit who are headed to the airport? Just a thought.

That's basically what CalTrain does, except CalTrain's bike cars merely have some bungee cords to tie down your bike. A very cheap solution, to be certain.

=v= Brock needs to get a life.
