Homeland Security put a little wrinkle in tonight's event by not letting Canadian artists Sam McKinlay and Christian Nicolay into the country. Therefore, their stellar installation of movement-triggered sound environments created by a live-amplified skateboard railing will be screened live at the event from Canada. The rest of the show will consist of live installations as planned. Diana Burgoyne will be "enveloping the audience with live drawings that activate sounds into a rising cacophonic score," and locals Beno + Minnie will layer vocal and percussion textures and melodies with "video and projection interventions."
During various weekend dates in July and August, be sure to check out Audiobus, which will feature various sound artists performing live on moving buses, most of them double-deckers. In August, the series will continue with events at various venues, including motion sensors and holographics, all-encompassing electro-acoustic sound travels, sound, sense, and the body, field and climate sound ecology, and deep listening soundwalks.
