Um, and why exactly was it necessary to make a swipe at gay pride in the context of this article? Do you have any substantial figures showing that policing gay pride has any real impact on the ability of the police to deal with other crime? Especially random crime committed in the middle of the week before Pride even gets off the ground?

IMO, garland transcends (or is just removed) from camp or homosexuality. i loathe when someone lumps her in with bette milder, barbara striesand (sp?), etc.
Waz up with throwing in the anti-gay comment? The police are going to be present when hundreds of thousands of people gather, especially people who are targets of bashing.
