Is It the '70s All Over Again?

Closed Arco

We snapped the above photo at everyone's favorite traffic mess - the Arco station on Fell and Divisadero. The sign on the fence reminded me of photos we'd seen of gas shortages back before we were sentient, but happily for drivers, this isn't the harbinger of shortages or rationing. The station will soon finish with their repair work, and people will once again be able to fill their H2s for $.02/gallon less than at the station across the street! Sadly, that means the traffic mess will return - today was the first time in a very long time that we'd gone up the Fell Street bike lane without having to dodge out into traffic to avoid a car blocking the lane or the sidewalk.

Kind of makes you wonder what would happen if the SFPD stationed an officer at that driveway when the stations reopen? They might make enough in tickets to get rid of San Francisco's perennial budget deficit.

Hmm, maybe a good time to use the Touchless Carwash? Or will my car be covered by ashes in the upcoming days?

They slap a surcharge on if you don't pay cash. Yet the suckers still line up.

Location, location, location.

Dan,

We? Methinks you've seriously misjudged your audience, son.

You gotta love "SHOP OPENS"

The biggest reason that people line up at the ARCO station is that up until a couple months ago the station across the street was a 76 station and the gas was $.10/gallon more. People haven't figured out that "spirit" means cheap. About half the time it is the exact same price as at ARCO.

that new spirit station has taken a lot of the traffic load, thankfully ... cuz that corner has consistently dangerous as hell for both bikes AND cars when people leave their butts hanging out there in the street.

@mushmouth ... yep, exactly.

Oh, my favorite corner.

So irksome that people drive from across the city in order to fill up their tanks for 2c cheaper gas. Not to mention the gas is shittier and fucks up their engine.

Good job wasting all that gas to get to the "cheap" gas station, dumbfuck. And thanks for blocking my bike lane.

So many retards in this town.

Don't tell anyone, but the Spirit takes credit card and doesn't charge the ATM surcharge that ARCO does.
