Bats are a keystone of the ecosystem and hugely beneficial to humans And sometimes they inspire obsessive, orphaned millionaires to don weird costumes and fight crime! But, seriously- bats rule. Please educate yourself, SFist, lest you be the one who still insists you can get pregnant from kissing. Well, you may not get pregnant- but it's probably still not a good idea to kiss a bat.

There are far more rabid raccoons, possums and even dogs than bats, and more people are killed each year from dog bites than are killed in a decade by bat-transmitted rabies.
