Road Rage Cause of Excelsior Shooting Deaths?

angry%20fist.jpg

As we reported earlier today, three two people were shot to death while driving in the Excelsior District yesterday. What's been revealed since the last post is that the three shooting victims were a father and two sons returning from a family barbecue in Fairfield, says the Gate.

Identified as Anthony Bologna, 48, and his sons, Michael Bologna, 19, and Matthew Bologna, 13 or 14, their brutal daytime shooting deaths are being reported as a road rage incident. (One son managed to escape unharmed.) According to a relative, "angry glares or gestures" might have been exchanged, which could have then led to this family massacre. Ugh.

Again, if there are any witnesses out there, please call the SFPD's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444. And who knows? They might actually do something if you call.

Update: It has been re-reported that the father and the youngest son, Matthew, died. Michael is currently in "critical but stable" condition.

"Ugh"? So Brock, do you now understand why asking "Is it Gang-Related?" (see: http://sfist.com/2008/06/10/oakland_man_sur.php) can be relevant for people? Random acts of violence like these "feel" scarier than a gang thing.

I say "feel" because either way it's bad, but for some reason learning that it's a family massacre brought about by road rage feels different than learning that 3 gang members are killed over a drug deal gone bad.

Either way, it's depressing but for many it's still kinda different, as far as their self preservation concerned.

omg, you're a total racist!!!!

Isn't "racist" an interesting accusation? There is absolutely no way to defend oneself of the accusation. And the fact that it's casually tossed around to include everyone from hardcore, hood-wearing KKK members to casually ignorant bystanders means it has pretty much any meaning the accuser wants it to have.

I don't want to make fun of the dead but...

his name was Tony Bologna?

Too soon, if at all, Scorched.

We're seeing a lot of people shot on 101 lately -- is ANYONE on this?

Re: "omg, you're a total racist!!!!"

Good one! Stay class Brock.

I've actually stopped flipping the bird, throwing trash, and using my horn because of this sort of shit. Too many people out there lost to meth and the DMV.

Brock and MisterDarcy are having a fight!

My money is on the man who's alias is not selected from a Jane Austin novel.

fizz: haha, yeah. a few months ago some 'tard actually got out of his car and yelled at me because i flashed my brights for him to hurry up with the left turn business.

Turns out the 16 year-old son didn't die, the news got it wrong. He's in the hospital in critical but stable condition. That's three people in the car: father, and two sons. One son survived.

This is just so sad. And, in classis SFPD MO, "no arrests have been made." At least they are not claiming that the father and son committed suicide and then washed off the gun and hid it in a Chyrsler 300M.

A mental evaluation should be added to DMV requirements to drive a vehicle in these stressful times.

*From what I understand, it was Michael (eldest son) who passed at the scene. Matthew was taken to SF General but was taken off life support yesterday.

May Tony, Michael, and Matthew rest in peaceful paradise..

All of my prayers and condolences go out to Danielle, Andrew, and little Francesca in this time of tremendous tragedy.

There could very likely be information not yet being released for the purpose of catching these senseless killers....
