As if Bakersfield's reputation couldn't get any worse, in-love male-female couples there and throughout Kern County are rushing to get married before the day ends. Why? Because the arguably vile Kern County Clerk Ann Barnett made the decision to no longer officiate weddings for any couples (queer or straight) throughout that god-awful eastern chunk of California.
Agree with Barnett? Disagree? Do let her know how you feel:
Ann K. Barnett

Same-sex weddings start soon. Activists Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon are scheduled to become the first queers to take their vows legally this Monday, June 16.

Anita Bryant achieved more fame as an anti-gay than she ever did as a G level C&W singer/Miss America runner up. She loves you, you know. It's your sin she hates.
She was a singer? (series! I didn't know...)
I must find and purchase this album...

This is great. This is a present all gift-wrapped and bow-tied for gay civil rights. And at juuust the right moment, too. THANK YOU BAKERSFIELD.
Way to equate gay marriage with straight marriage!
Way to seem unreasonable to swing voters!
Way to take your ball and go home!
Seriously, Field of Bakers. Don't go changin', try to please me.
Ann who?
