Hells Angels Shooting Prefaces Annual Ride Through Marin County

hells%20angels.jpg

Did you know that Hells Angels is incorporated? Well, we didn't. Please excuse of woeful lack of Hells Angels' knowledge. We digress.

As the famously infamous bad-boy motorcycle gang Hells Angels takes it annual trek through Marin County, happening this weekend, they will have their backseat bitches on security watch. Why? Because a 20-year-old Marin County woman was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing of a San Leandro man "described as an associate of the Hells Angels" this past weekend. It seems 25-year-old William Maclean fell victim to gunfire as he was riding in the back of a pickup truck during a funeral procession crawling along Highway 101 in Marin County last Saturday.

Police are still investigating whether or not the incident stemmed from road rage or... some vendetta, or something. Needless to say, the annual ride through will have beefed up security.

That said, Hells Angels is a most fascinating group. They have branches throughout the world in such dainty, emasculated countries as the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Quebec, whose former leader Maurice (aka Mom) Boucher, is currently in the clink for two counts first-degree murder. Mon dieu.

Ah, Quebec, my favorite country.

There's also the whole 1969 Altamont Free Concert fiasco, in which the Rolling Stones hired the Hells Angels to work security, recommended by the Grateful Dead. I love Gimme Shelter.

Stupid overgrown hipsters.

There used to be a bunch of Hell's Angeles in San Francisco, Marin, Oakland and the Peninsula. I remember watching them as a kid riding up and down 101.

A few of my brother's friends in the Excelsior became members back in the 1980's. His step dad was an associate. I used to hear apocryphal tales of murder and mayhem. A lot of those old school guys are either dead or live in places like Clear Lake or Senora.

This was the dark ages in SF before blue bottle coffee and artisanal salumi made from sustainability raised meat.

I didn't know they were incorporated either. weird

Yeah, makes it easier to control the use of the name, logo, etc. And it's a club, not a gang.
