The SF Dump was turned into a carnival midway this weekend to showcase it's latest Artist in Residence, Paul Cesewski. During his 3-month stint of combing over our trash at the Solid Waste Transfer Center, Paul collected the makings of a variety of human powered mechanical games.
Adults and kids alike pedaled machines into action -- spraying water on a burning replica of the 6th & Howard building and telling corny jokes complete with a built in ba dum chhh. These along with classics like Skrewball (a take on ski ball) and "put your face here" signs rounded out the interactive amusements.
Paul's sculptures remind you to wring a little more fun out of that garbage before you throw it away. Or don't, and maybe you'll see it at the next Artist in Residence show.

If you're interested in checking out future AIR exhibits, drop SF Recycling a note.

This was a great little show - loved it. More importantly it was a great, local crowd of creative people. And to top off all the midway/carnival theme, the Crank Ensemble ( http://www.crankensemble.com )performed a satisfying noise set with hand cranked found objects.
