After a disturbingly easy commute, no line at Blue Bottle, and 15 minutes spent deleting the zillions of Out of Office emails that cluttered our inbox, we're ready to face the day. And, in the words of that damned Carrie Bradshaw, we had to wonder just who is at work today? We know why we're here (absent boss, parsimonious with vacation days, Bagel Radio's 480 Minutes sounds better on our office computer), but what about you?
Is your area of business (SoMa? FiDi? Where else?) as 28 Days Later as ours is? Are you alone in the building -- and, if so, can we come over and rifle through your colleagues' stuff? Why the hell did you show up for work today? Let us know in the comments.

Half day, then beer and burgers with a bunch of good folks at Grumpy's. Happy holiday weekend everyone!
(And if you see an older man with a bunch of plastic poppies and a tin somewhere this weekend, give him a few bucks, please, and tuck the poppy somewhere. You'd be donating money to disabled vets.)
Because Jackie Speier is coming to speak to our students.
Don't ever use the word FiDi in my face again.
Working in the -FiDi-; but getting off early. Stuffing my face with Mixt Greens, etc etc
FiDi is awesome.
I was wondering why the BART was so void. I felt like I was doing something wrong going into work.
'course, it's better than coming in tomorrow, which I'll have to do anyway. The joys of nonexempt salary employment are indeed bounteous.
Busy busy busy-- new crop of interns showed up this week! Most of us have hang overs from last night's goodbye drinks for a colleague, so things are quiet but keyboards are clacking away.
Why is anyone having breakfast at Blue Bottle at 11 am? Don't you people have real jobs? I'm going out on a limb and assuming it's something that pays you an extraordinarily ridiculous amount that affords you the opportunity to have breakfast at Blue Bottle. Bastards.
working away at the EBC1—you know—in the FiDi of D.T S.F. why? b/c I'm a corporate whore.
enough acronyms?
I had a hell of a time trying to get to work today, actually. Serious problems with the N-Judah (surprise, surprise), and even the 71 was delayed. Made me wish I'd taken the day off.
Well, I'm working from home today (playing Mario Kart) and getting a lot done (eating Nutella crepes). Why? Because everyone I work with is out today too.
i'm working at my desk, watching people frolic on third street. i think they're intentionally rubbing it in.
My home office has as many cats as usual (2).
i'm having an affair with my boss and today is the only day we could get the conference room ....
I work in a lab in the east Bay and everyone is here. We also have a group of 6th grade kids touring around...
I'm at work, a slave to the evil billable hour. I can't believe I spent six figures on student loans for this life.
I suck. :-(
YES, Ginger! And not only are they having breakfast at blue bottle at 11, their breakfast is, like, a 70 buck egg sandwich. So money is no object. I want to get adopted by a blue bottle breakfaster!
I just woke up... what's everyone talkin' about?
I got to WFH today! Yeah acronyms! I'm going to Blondie's later to get my martini on.
Working. Still working. My office is full because we generally don't value free time here. I didn't even realize Monday was a holiday until last night. *cry*
Girlfriend gets home from Nice at 6pm. Take our cat to a vet to get put down tonight. Then fly off to Buenos Ares tomorrow... Weird couple of days.
Work-work-work - pick up dog at doggy day care by 5 -- go to the hair appointment at 5:30 -- go back to work at 7 PM -- pass out at midnight -- start drinking heavily for the Carnival.
24/7 operation here and I need to save my PTO so I'm here in Western Japan Heights (WPH?) all day (as opposed to the FiDi, which I'll write but I say as Financial District)...it's pretty quiet though, I'm sure more people will take off in the mid-afternoon.
I'm kicking it at my cube in the SOMA/Lapu Lapu area. And I'm actually busy today!
@HHumbert: Aw. My sympathies. :(
Somebody had to come in today! Plus I had to use the fax machine at the office, which is in SOMA but close to FiDi. HHumbert: Sorry about your cat.
Now I have beer in my office! I love working next to BevMo
if you start drinking, then i will.
Working - because someone's got to sell the insurance. But, I am leaving soon - so yay for that!
Why would I have beer I'm not drinking? I thought you were a journalist! Where's you scotch and cigarette? Did you learn nothing from Dennis Richmond's tribute video?
HHumbert, really sorry to hear that. My sympathies also. :(
I went to TJ's on 9th and Bryant on my lunch break. There were so few people in the store I was actually panicky.
I think I'm going home right now.
