The Coronet is where I saw "Star Wars," "Superman," "Return of the Jedi," "Aliens," "Batman," and, um, "Fire Walk With Me." So I am totally with you on missing the hell out of that theater...

jpn: It absolutely was, but, remember, the Coronet was open back when the Castro very rarely showed first-run, mainstream films. The Coronet also had a way better sound system, and the seating was better -- the floor was slanted in a way that there was much better visibility for all, and as a short person this is a big deal to me.

But enough sadness about the past. I'm sure seeing it at the Castro may 22-June 18 would be way better than the metroplex. Thanks for the hint!

"It's times like these we really miss the Coronet... maybe we'll take off early today and catch it somewhere way less fun."

Isn't the Castro Theater fun? Are you saying that the Coronet was way better than the Castro?

I saw the new Indy movie at the Kabuki last night (yippee for reserved seats and a half-full theater), and I really enjoyed it. It's well shot, the lighting is nice, and Ford is actually pretty funny!

I thought the movie was great, saw a pre-screening last weekend courtesy of Lucasfilm. Best part was seeing my lad's name appear in the credits. We both cried like little babies.

So yeah, I'm biased in favor of the film but can also say that I typically hate special-effectsy productions and this one surprised me in a nice way.

I got lost at Indiana Beach while camping with my family as a kid. I guess my parents believed me when I said my friend and I could find our way home on our own at age 5. I distinctly remember asking an older kid at the puppet show whether they were a boy or a girl. They said, "Both," which blew my mind. (I acknowledge that it was a rude question though.)

I also remember getting stuck on the bumper car ride on that same trip. I was just tall enough to drive one, but got bumped by every other kid in the place. The operator had to stop the whole thing so he could help me get the hell out of there. It was mortifying. Ah, the '70s.

The Last Crusade was NOT crappy!

But I have no interest in seeing I.J. and the Golden Diaper. Harrison needs to hang it up and go make salad dressing somewhere. Shia LeBeaieaui-whatever deserves a kick in the teeth. And for fuck's sake, they called it "The LAST Crusade" for a reason!

You gotta love the Indiana Beach reference. That dumb crow used to give me nightmares. Please continue to make Indiana references in the future and use words like ruf and crik...
