"gift cards" my ass. If he really wanted to stop smoking, he'd just ask for nicotine patches, not gift cards that could be used on anything, including cigarettes.

Every other day I encounter him while walking my friends Great Dane. He likes to say "Hey, my name is Dane" and then laughs. It was funny the first few times he did it but now it's been four years and he's still cracking the same joke. Granted it was funny again a few months ago because of the absolute absurdity of it but now it's tired again. Good for him wanting to quite smoking. Better for him that he's found an inventive way to do it.

He is a hero in the neighborhood. He pulled a man from a burning car on castro street last year, the man later died, but his selfless act of heroism gained him many new friends in the neighborhood. He is bonkers, but a really nice guy, (most of the time).
