Help Hobo Stop Smoking, Won't You?

quit%20smoking%20now.jpg

Found at 18th and Castro, this autobiographical poster tells the tale of someone whop would like to stop smoking. And you can help! See, he would like to you top purchase him Walgreens gift cards (in any amount!) in order for him to purchase nicotine patches.

Way to go, stranger. And good luck with that.

He is a hero in the neighborhood. He pulled a man from a burning car on castro street last year, the man later died, but his selfless act of heroism gained him many new friends in the neighborhood.
He is bonkers, but a really nice guy, (most of the time).

Can't you also buy smokes at Walgreens, or did Newsom ban that too?

if i was younger and full of punk rock energy i would totally form a band called the "nicoteens"

'hobo' writes better than many 'hipsters' I know

Every other day I encounter him while walking my friends Great Dane. He likes to say "Hey, my name is Dane" and then laughs. It was funny the first few times he did it but now it's been four years and he's still cracking the same joke. Granted it was funny again a few months ago because of the absolute absurdity of it but now it's tired again.

Good for him wanting to quite smoking. Better for him that he's found an inventive way to do it.

oh dane...i know it will never work...but i'm proud of you for trying!

He lives in his own universe which could be good; could be bad.

"gift cards" my ass. If he really wanted to stop smoking, he'd just ask for nicotine patches, not gift cards that could be used on anything, including cigarettes.

Happy birthday Dane!

so he buys some other things with the gift cards, so what?
