Ask SFist: What's That Smokey Scent In SF Today?

asksfistlogo.jpg

Friend of SFist Andrew Warren writes in to ask:

Any idea why the whole city smells like a big camp fire?

Yes, what is that hickory-bold scent in the air today?

What part of the city? I didn't notice it in Lower Nob Hill... Oddly enough a fire truck just went by.

I heard there was smoke in GGP (not the "kind" kind, the other kind)...

I was off of Masonic and Fulton. The air smelled very thick all afernoon. A fire in GGP would make sense but I haven't heard anything about it yet.

BCN is reporting that crews are fighting a fire in GG Park close to the Polo Fields. And even though the one-alarm fire is reportedly only burning vegetation, officials say the difficulty comes from getting water into the park.

There was a distinct wiff down at 4th and Townsend at 4PM.

its the smelly armits and buttholes on the un-airconditioned T-Third.

bring back the 15 line!!!

Oh, sorry. I'm cooking and feasting on the skulls of my enemies.

Yeah I kept freaking out about where it was coming from. Thanks for easing my running-away-from-the-fire-with-dog-the-child-the-possesions-as-fast-as-I-can genetic reaction.

there was a 1 alarm fire at the Polo Fields in GG Park..heard it on KCBS

A fire in GGP?
Here I was thinking the Mayor was standing out in the heat for to long and all of the chemicles in his hair went ablaze.
