SFist Tonight

SOUL: According to the The New York Times' Stephen Holden--or so says SF Weekly--Ashford & Simpson audiences are made up of "singles, doubles, gays, straights, blacks, whites, all mixed together and singing along." Solid.

7 p.m. // The Rrazz Room at Hotel Nikko (222 Mason) // $45-$55

CHORALE: Devoted to performing "established repertoire of all periods and newly commissioned works of promising composers, the International Orange Chorale's concert--titled "Music to Chill By"--features a wide array of music from Scandinavia and the Baltics. (Mmm, cod!) Works from composers Sven-David Sandström, Hugo Alfvén, Gustaf Fröding, Jørgen Jerslid, Arvo Part, Algirdas Martinaitis (American premiere) Jeremy Faust (World premiere), and others will be heard. Reception with the artists immediately follows the show. Oh yeah, and this is also a nifty way to spend Mother's Day with mutter if she's in town.

7:30 p.m. // St. Mark's Lutheran Church (1111 O'Farrell) // $10 (donation)
