I'll tell you what's half-assed about this: none of the websites for the Bay Area weeklies let you click on a day and see EVERYTHING that is happening on that day. SFBG has a nice little "Hotlist" widget there, but no "more..." link. Retarded. Do these people even read their own paper? Because they seem to manage it in print.
I can't count the number of times I've wanted to do something interesting but didn't have the paper version in front of me, then found that the website(s, to include the other papers) is of no use for this purpose.
Honestly, Manys, I've looked through our paper once or twice -- and I don't see anywhere in there that you can do the above either. So I'm not sure what your point is.
now if the bg would just stop embedding itself in the internecine squabbles of the "progressives" and go back to reporting the kind of well researched, "cant find it anywhere else" reporting that people can USE, instead of tons of opinions, we'd be all set!
Marke: While indeed the paper versions don't have arts and music and movies on the same page, they are listed under their respective sections in collated-calendar form. Also, you don't have to click through a paper so it's easier to just skip to the sections.
A website can make this easier if designed by someone with a clue (likely without BBB leching over their shoulder), and I believe you would get more visitors if it were so. Seriously, is there really an argument against having a calendar that lists everything? You already know the dates on which things are happening. If you have to scrounge for pageviews just put the event details on a separate page.
But hey, keep those anachronistic commie jokes coming; they make you sound "hip" and "with it."
