More Anger Over SFBG's Leno Endorsement

butch.jpg

Hurt feelings have translated into a gruff Bay Guardian op-ed piece over last week's endorsement of Mark Leno over Carole Migden in the Third Senate District race. Penned by top-tier progressives (and then some) Bill Barnes, Chris Daly, Michael Goldstein, Robert Haaland, Joe Julian, Eric Mar, Rafael Mandelman, Eric Quezada, and Debra Walker (we can only imagine who was fucking dying to get mentioned on that clique list), the letter tells the SFBG that they fucked up and have single handedly sent the city of San Francisco into a death-spiral, or something like that.

But we did enjoy this paragraph:

Migden is a scrappy street fighter who helps other scrappy street fighters. As one of the very first queers and one of the first women to take political power at these levels, she had to be. Someday progressive politics may not need scrappy street fighters (and someday maybe women will be better represented in public office) — but not yet.

Obvious well-that-explains-her-hair hilarity aside, we love the image of her as a scrappy street fighter, duking it out with some other soft-butch at the Lex. Aw.

Can't someone pitch this as a pilot to Bravo?

It may help with the healing.

What I found hilarious is that they talked about how many of them are "the leading progressive candidates to retain a progressive majority on the Board of Supervisors in November."

Sure, Eric Mar (D1) and Eric Quezada (D9) signed that letter -- but I didn't see progressive Supe candidates Mark Sanchez (D9) and David Chiu (D3) on that list. I wonder why ...

Oh, yeah. That's right. Chiu and Sanchez both agree with the Guardian and endorsed Mark Leno.

agreed. that was...a wordy at best.

"her campaign finance filings was clearly an error of judgment. But for us, none of this outweighs her incredible record of achievement in Sacramento..."

Clearly, for others, her "error of judgment," or lack of regard for ethics laws, does...

frightwig vs. chaps

So let me get this straight. The letter is signed by nine people-and they could only get one woman to sign the letter.

Well if they REALLY want to get to the lofty goal of having more women get elected into the office, they might start with getting more women to sign a letter (and be on their HOPE slate. Daly and the gange only have two women on their "HOPE" slate for 13th AD DCCC and over 50% of the voters are women.)

The HOPE slate is all about Daly and Peskin HOPE-ing to continue to run their machine from the party committee. Vote no.
