I've heard that if you are a large-breasted female it's not that hard to get past Mario's people. He'll brush them aside to try and get to know you better. The man can cook, but apparently he's kind of a skank.

beth: right? even local chefs have people. i tried to talk to one cook of slight fame in sf--who was in the kitchen at the time before the place opened!--and they said i had to talk to her PR reps. pft.

I had this master plan to contact Mario, for whom I lust daily, and get myself invited to dinner. I just KNOW he's having some 7 hour booze-fest in the back room of a fine establishment tonight. What's one more, right? I'm a good chatter! Turns out, it's kinda hard to get in touch with Mario. He has "people."

I shared a cab with Joanne Weir once, and she is indeed all that and some freshly deep-fried thin potato slices sprinkled with sea salt. I also appreciate your description of Sandra Lee as "harrowing."
