SFist Blotter

evictionnotice.jpg

  • Oakland, Thursday: A 94-year-old man--94!--was taken into custody after he shot and killed his landlord during a standoff. Frank Spillman, according to the Gate, was facing eviction and, well, simply didn't want to vacate. It seems the tenant "opened fire several times at his landlord, Kulbushan Gupta, 64," at around 7:30 p.m. last night. Gupta later died at a nearby hospital. Yikes. Police then used a Taser gun to subdue the old man. He is currently under psychological observation.
  • Visitacion Valley, Thursday: A man was shot in the leg at 84 Brookdale Avenue. But! He only suffered minor injuries. And the suspect? Is still at large.

Okay- I get that he killed someone but seriously they needed a taser? He's 94.

Damn fogies with guns, always keeping the working man down. Go back to oldlandia!

All I can picture is the old neighbor from Family Guy.

Dark and lonely on a summer's night.
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking. Do he bite?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Slip in his window. Break his neck.
Then his house I start to wreck.
Got no reason. What the heck?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
C-I-L my landlord.

I'm sorry, this really isn't funny.

@ rroseselavy

yes, but that your reference is funny.

You gotta love that he did this on the first of the month.

The Landlord's here to visit
They're blasting disco down below
Sez, "I'm doubling up the rent
Cos the building's condemned
You're gonna help me buy City Hall"

But we can, you know we can
But we can, you know we can
Let's lynch the landlord man

I tell them 'turn on the water'
I tell 'em 'turn on the heat'
Tells me 'All you ever do is complain'
Then they search the place when I'm not here

But we can, you know we can
Let's lynch the landlord
Let's lynch the landlord
Let's lynch the landlord man

There's rats chewin' up the kitchen
Roaches up to my knees
Turn the oven on, it smells like Dachau, yeah
Til the rain pours thru the ceiling

But we can, you know we can
Let's lynch the landlord man

Thanks, DJTennessee, I feel better. Sorry for the families of everyone involved.

Does your average San Francisco jury vote to convict in this case?

It'd be a close verdict, y'all.
