Muni's Guide To The Weekend: Inline Skating Marathon And More

Loads of delightful events are happening this weekend: street fairs, charity walks, tequila, inline skating appreciation, and more. Here's how SF transit plans on handling the merriment:

Bay Bridge Construction Closure

Beginning 1:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3 through 1:30 a.m., Sunday, May 4, Fourth Street between Bryant Street and Harrison Street will be closed to accommodate Bay Bridge construction work.

The following Muni lines will be affected.

* 30-Stockton (inbound only)
* 45-Union (inbound only)
* 91-Owl (outbound only)

How Weird Street Faire

On Sunday, May 4, the How Weird Street Faire will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the SOMA neighborhood.

The following street closures will be in place beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m.

* Howard Street from 1st Street to New Montgomery
* Natoma Street from 1st Street to New Montgomery
* Minna Street from 1st Street to New Montgomery
* 2nd Street from Folsom Street to Mission Street
* Intersections: 2nd Street at Howard, Minna, and Natoma

Traffic traveling westbound on Howard Street will be diverted to 1st Street and Harrison Street. Traffic traveling southbound on 2nd Street will be diverted on Mission to New Montgomery Street, and northbound traffic will be diverted on Harrison to 3rd Street.

The following Muni lines will be affected:

* 10-Townsend
* 76-Marin Headlands
* 108-Treasure Island

But wait, there's more!

Charity Walks

On Sunday, May 4, two charity walks will take place in the Presidio. No Muni re-routes or street closures have been planned.

Oh, this looks like fun:

Inline Skating Marathon

On Sunday, May 4, the Inline Skating Marathon will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Golden Gate Park. The route will proceed west on JFK Drive from Kezar Drive to Transverse Drive and return to Kezar Drive.

The 44-O'Shaughnessy will be re-routed beginning at 7:00 a.m. to accommodate the event.

And finally:

Street Fairs

The following community gatherings will require street closures this weekend.

Friday, May 2

- Cinco de Mayo Celebration, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Commercial Street from Sansome Street to Montgomery Street

Sunday, May 4

- Neighborhood Block Party, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Detroit Street from Melrose Avenue to Stillings Street and Melrose from Congo Street to Teresita Boulevard

- Neighborhood Block Party, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Filbert Street from Divisadero Street to Broderick Street

Also, kids 12 and under ride Bart for free this Sunday, May 4.
