When I was at UC-Berkeley, there was -- and probably still is -- a group called BAMN, or the Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action By Any Means Necessary.

BAMN was a bizarre group of vanguard Trotskyites who liked to take over other progressive rallies with their bullhorns, make lots and lots of noise and basically be incredibly weird, annoying and cultish.

They were constantly telling us we needed to start a riot to get what we want (you know, stick it to the MAN!), which gave every lefty activist on campus a bad name. They single-handedly convinced a lot of students to vote against affirmative action.

There's even a conspiracy theory that BAMN is just a right-wing plot (some even said the CIA) to make the left look bad. I don't believe it, but I can TOTALLY see why people would.

Having taught in SFSU's English Department I have no doubt he thinks that is the correct spelling. Also I can tell he wouldn't be able to define irony or understand its concept.

This has to be a result of proposition 13 or 14 or whatever it was back in 78' and gutted the school system here in California so bad that even the schools that had money had to cut back and I was so bored to death I started selling Marijuana just to have something challenging to do ( i. e. beat the cops and the system ) , oopppss perhaps I said to much... dang me and my lack of school learning.

OH great another we don't know what happened moment ????... Proposition 13 bancrupted an entire generation of school kids and the state of California has yet to recover from it. No wonder I lost intrest in education back in 78' and started selling ' greenery' Man ( hanging 5 hand jive sign ). Heck at least it's interesting.

Don't they teach at SFSU that spelling is irrelevant because it is imposed by the white male fascist patriarchal culture that spawned Abu Ghraib and the RIAA?

The additional irony of course is that in holding a walkout, you are rejecting education to demand education.
