We're Richer Than All Of This New Hollywood Trash

What with all of the Dedes, Newsoms, Nessies, and guilty white trustifarians using "gentrification!" as both a battle cry AND a lifestyle, it should come as no surprise to you that San Francisco is crazy-ass rich. At least according to the California Franchise Tax board's recently released annual report, we are.
But, sadly, San Francisco comes in at a dismal no. 13 on the pristine list, scoring a median joint income of $71,529. Pathetic. However, our snotty neighbor to the north, Marin, takes the top spot with a median joint income of $116,626. In fact, the Bay Area calls eight of the state's top 12 highest-income counties home. Santa Clara, San Mateo, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties all crept over the $80k median income line.

Dede, Barb, Mitzi, Lollie, Deb, Lennie, Charl, Fil...
Don't you wish YOUR Mom made the list?
No, think of the therapy bills!
Can some nerd out there (see how we need and love you?) figure out what this translates to if you factor in the cost of living? And then can you present it to Congress and the IRS?
Yeah, maybe cost of living would help put this in perspective. Because there's always something missing in these kinds of reports. I don't know, maybe it's me, but I don't give a shit about the median, especially when it comes to oogling moola. Pacific Heights just feels richer than the swankiest parts of Marin.
These counties will always lose the Dynasty competition with SF. They're too nouveau and therefore lack the knack for flaunting their riche.
Plus, we have contrast! Nowhere else in America do you have the filthy rich living so close to the filthy. The Opera crowd never looks as moneyed as they do when the homeless in the foreground. Nob Hill is right next to the Tenderloin, for chrissakes. Our classes are literally stratified.
And you can't get that in Atherton, baby.
It still amazes me to see some of the ginormous, beautiful houses in this city and I have to ask, what the fuck do these people do for a living?? (besides inherit)
Really? That amazes you? I hope you're not a career advisor.
Quite frankly, it amazes me that anyone would have so much money and then waste it on a huge mansion when there's probably all of three people living there. So yes, I'm amazed. And no, I'm not a career counselor, otherwise I would know what the fuck they do for a living.
