Daly to SF Bay Guardian: Endorse Carole Migden

SF city supervisor Chris Daly penned an open letter to the folks over at SFBG today, asking them to endorse la Migden for reelection. In an exhausting race for State Senator, over the last year Mark Leno and Carole Migden have been shamelessly entertaining in their back and forth bickering, politicking, and bile spewing. (Come June, we will miss their open hatred for each other. Seriously.) But now Daly is going to bat for Migden, the way Migden did for Daly when she "help[ed] to fund a door-to-door effort to get out the Daly vote."
Also, of course, she's better for progressives than Leno, thus better for Daly.
Anyway, SFist demanded SFBG editor Tim Redmond tell us just who in the hell they plan on endorsing. Alas, he wouldn't budge. The nerve. "We, of course, appreciate Sup. Daly's input, and I appreciate the dozens of calls I've gotten on both sides of this race. It's obviously a tough one for us, and our endorsement will be out Wednesday," Redmond tells SFist.
So...look for it then.
Speaking of alt weeklies: anyone notice SF Weekly's cozy new dimensions this week?

They will endorse Migden, but she will lose.
neither "alt weekly" in this town is particuarly helpful or informative these days..I often wonder if in this era of blogs and news sites and the like if such papers are obsolete, or at least seemingly unable to adapt to a world where we have more choices than the Chron, the Ex the BG and the SFW..
I don't know how much an SFBG endorsement actually helps a candidate.
Leno's got better hair and he doesn't look like my crazy alcoholic aunt Phyllis who mumbles into her potatoes at Thanksgiving every year.
Therefore he gets my vote.
I know that pre-Internet I would make my rounds to pick up the Guardian, the Weekly, B.A.R., Bay Times and whatever other free weeklies were in publication at the moment. I haven't done that since 2001 -- either I read them online or I don't read them at all.
Perhaps they do have a place as being publications of record, or at least of note. As an outlet, something published under their banner could and should carry more legitimacy than someone who set up a LiveJournal account five minutes ago.
On Migden shilling for Leno: Can we do write-in candidates? If so, I'm going to pencil in the name of whoever wins the current season of Big Brother.
Gah. LENO shilling for MIGDEN. Dammit.
DALY shilling for Migden. Oh fuck this, I need a drink.
@ Dan Berkes:
good call. i fully support any bb winner, save dick.
SHRUG - Who cares what the newspapers think when it comes to candidates? Propositions, okay fine ... Candidates, I think we all get our own perceptions of the people and make a decision based on the perceptions (true or false as they may be).
"I know that pre-Internet..."
Wow, you remember before technology?
What's up with this Nation guy? I've never heard of him and hate him already because he comes from Marin. However, since the Alioto princeling dropped out of the race and I can't abide either the deranged Migden creature or the porno pushing Leno, this Nation human may just get my vote by default.
I hate voting in this country. Every election is like Sophie's choice without the choice.
No one's making you vote, Angry Young Man. If you don't feel adequate choices exist, you can get in the game and get involved with someone you think is better.
Migden is history, I think. Leno may have a fighting chance, but he and Migden will likely split the "progressive" vote, leaving Nation to take the center and the election.
now, now. remember, no one thought it was carly smithson's time go, but...well, i think we all learned an important lesson from that elimination.
Wow, you remember before technology?
Yes. It took hours to transmit snark effectively back then. It was terrible.

I'm already in the game. I don't just bitch, I act on my bitching. All the same, good advice.
Run TAYM, run! Sacramento needs you. San Francisco needs you. We need you!
Also, of course, she's better for progressives than Leno, thus better for Daly.
Really? How so? I deeply on the fence. I want to know.
I once pondered running for office because of all the lousy choices out there figuring I couldn't do any worse .....
Then I realized even I'm not that crazy.
