Sunflower seeds! On the 38, naturally...just spitting them out on the floor...blech. :P They probably didn't pay the fare either, so this fits perfectly with my plan to fix SF MUNI. Not only that, but they were probably sitting in the middle of that 3 seat bench with their crap on one side and their legs on the other.

lol i've seen nail clipping in action a few dozen times...there was one old lady who did this on the N pretty regularly... and two counts of actual poop, not just brussel sprout smell. in one case nobody could figure out who was the culprit so everyone was looking around at everyone real suspicious like and trying not to breathe any more than necessary to retain consciousness. always a fun trip on the muni!

MUNI riders are no less concerned about their personal grooming. I've seen people clip their nails on the bus once or twice, and have witnessed plenty of folks plucking invisible bugs from their hair and/or face.

I recently encountered someone flossing their teeth on BART. This undoubtedly proves that BART attracts a higher caliber of rider. It's a joy to encounter someone that concerned with their personal hygiene on public transportation!

I think the worst smell I've encountered was on Bart when a woman was eating roasted vegetables. The Brussels sprouts made it smell like someone had pooped on the train.

Heck, I just realized I have had 2 muni bus tokens I carry with me all the time and have for 5 years now ( just in case ).... No wonder I haven't used them yet.

More often than on any other bus line I've had the pleasure to frequent.

@joel: omg, that's horrible! I could never understand why anyone would want to eat or drink on any MUNI bus...between the herky jerky ride and the splendid odors that buses provide, I can't see how that would be very pleasant for one's dining experience. At least Caltrain is clean, stable, and you can have a beer on the way home if you want and not worry about it ending up all over your 49.95 charcoal grey suit.

The worst for me personally was a few months back I was on the N around midnight and some asshole was eating a huge takeout order of mussels in some kind of tomato sauce in a takeout box spread over a couple seats, and when he got off at Judah and Funston he just walked away and left the whole stinking kit and caboodle there, shells and all. I tossed it out myself when I got to 19th; what a prick.

One color would be a free bus, the other color would be $3.00. The $3.00 bus would have WiFi and an espresso stand. In place of the espresso stand, the free bus would have a police substation.
